Single women or married women can find comfort traveling with other women. Like-minded women traveling together can add solace and a sense of commonality to a vacation. A small group of women spending time together away from the busyness of life can bond friendships and release stress. But it may not always be easy to find a compatible traveling partner.

Understandably, traveling solo may be intimidating for some women. Besides the concern of safety, the lack of companionship makes the trip seem dreadful. Even if you have one girlfriend who is able to go on vacation, sometimes it can be fun to meet up with other women across the globe.

Women’s travel websites provide that opportunity to see the world whether you are traveling solo of with a group. Travel groups dedicated to women opens up travel for women interested in adventure, sightseeing, experiencing new cultures, or just relaxing. ¬†These organizations bring women together, cultivating friendships and offering new perspectives.

Getting a small group of women together is no easy feat. Having organizations that take care of all the planning and preparation make your vacation plans less stressful. Let someone else do the planning – you just need to show up.

Here are a few websites that focus on travel for women.

Gutsy Women Travel

The ¬†motto of this organization is “It’s your Life, Live IT!” ¬†Gutsy Women Travel develops trips with women in mind, a way to rejuvenate the spirit, body, and mind. GWT links up with local escorts to provide the true sense of the culture. The female-centric trips include outdoor activities, spa visits, shopping, cooking classes, and more. Through their partnership with guided tours company, Trafalgar, they also offer trips for men and women.

Journey Women is more than a place to book tours, but also a resource for women’s travel. While I do think the website’s navigation could be better, there are plenty of articles specifically geared towards women who travel. The site breaks down information further adding resources for specific travel interests (e.g., spa, cruises, EcoAdventures, and shopping) to appeal to a variety of interests.

Wanderlust and Lipstick

Beth Whitman built this women’s travel website equipped with more than 25 years of wandering the world experience. Advice from various women bloggers, travel stories, tips on gear, Wanderlust books, and even personal tours will whet your travel appetite. Beth knows travel and has participating in everything from outdoor adventures in Nepal, to cross country motorcycle trips, to volunteering in Vietnam, and facing dangerous exploits in southeast Asia.

Women Traveling Together

According to the website, Women Traveling Together is the oldest Women’s Travel Company in the world. WTT was created in 1997 to bring together women who share the same passion for traveling. The tours are designed for small groups with a maximum of eighteen people to kindle the friendships developed during the trips. They offer a membership for $45/year giving you access to other women travelers. You can plan trips together and get to know someone before you go on the trip.

Women’s Travel

This site also claims to be the oldest women’s travel club (since 1992), so I am confused. Either way, the prices for these worldwide tours seem reasonable. The focus is on solo travel and small groups with personalized service to women of all different age groups and backgrounds. The Club has has been featured in a variety of press releases and articles including Frommer’s, TravelSmart newsletter, the Chicago Tribune, Travel & Leisure, and the San Francisco Examiner.

Australia Through the Eyes of an Ordinary Man

I grew up as an eighties child, so one of my first memories of the land “down under” is a place where women glow and men plunder. Of course, at that time, I had no idea what Men at Work meant by that phrase. I’m not sure I even do now. Around that same time, […]
